Auto transport

Open vs. enclosed transport: which one does your vehicle need?

Most vehicles on the road today are shipped on open carriers — the two-level trailers you see on the highway. They are efficient, widely available and the most economical option.

When open transport makes sense

  • Daily drivers, SUVs and pickups
  • Dealer and auction inventory
  • Tight budgets or flexible dates

When to choose enclosed

  • Classic, exotic and collector cars
  • Vehicles with low ground clearance (liftgate loading)
  • Freshly restored paint or show cars
  • Winter moves through salted roads

Enclosed trailers protect against weather, road debris and prying eyes. They typically carry fewer vehicles, so expect a higher price and slightly longer scheduling.
